FRP/GRP XPS Sandwich Panels

GRP XPS sandwich panels are a composite material that combines the skin material GRP (FRP – Glass Fiber Reinforced Plastic) with the core material XPS (Extruded Polystyrene) foam to form a sandwich structure. It is a thermal insulation panel with a stable structure and a wide range of uses.

Features of GRP XPS Sandwich Panels

  • Thermal Insulation
XPS foam, as the inner layer material, has excellent insulation properties. This helps prevent heat transfer, keeping the space inside the panels warm in cold weather and cool in hot weather.
  • Waterproof
The water absorption rate of XPS foam is extremely low; the gel coat on the GRP surface is not hydrophilic.
  • Lightweight
Due to the lightweight nature of XPS foam, GRP XPS sandwich panels are relatively lightweight and easy to handle and install.
  • Durability
The GRP outer layer has excellent weather resistance and corrosion resistance, which makes GRP XPS sandwich panels perform well in outdoor environments. It is able to withstand different climate conditions and humidity levels.
  • Strength
Due to the sandwich structure, GRP XPS sandwich panels also excel in strength.

Materials and performance

Surface Layer – GRP Sheet

The surface of GRP XPS sandwich panel is made of antibacterial gel coat GRP sheet. The surface is flat and smooth, UV-resistant, waterproof and oil-proof.

Reinforcement Layer – GMT (Optionally)

GMT (Glass Mat reinforced Thermoplastic). As the bonding layer between the core material and the skin, it can make the core material and the skin more closely combined, maintain the flatness of the sandwich panel surface, and improve the impact resistance of the sandwich panel.

Core Material – XPS Foam

It uses a new type of closed-cell XPS foam material as the core material, which has excellent waterproof and compression resistance.properties. We offer XPS foam in different densities and sizes to suit the strength and insulation requirements of composite panels.

Embedded Materials (Optionally)

Embedding materials inside the sandwich panel can enhance its structural strength and durability. Commonly used embedded materials include aluminum profiles, steel pipes, wood, fiberglass profiles, engineering plastics, etc.

Type of Skin Materials

Usually, the skin material used as XPS foam sandwich panel is thermosetting resin glass fiber reinforced plastic, which we often call GRP. In addition to thermosetting GRP materials, we have also developed a new type of thermoplastic resin GRP material – CFRT (continuous fiber reinforced thermoplastic) as the skin material. The combination of thermoplastic resin and continuous glass fiber makes CFRT more impact-resistant, compressive-resistant, and flexural-resistant.

Surface Treatment

In addition to the most common glossy and matte surface treatments, the GRP surface can be processed into various texture patterns, etc.

Applications of GRP XPS Sandwich Panels

GRP XPS Sandwich Panels are widely used in vehicles, ships, and buildings that require waterproofing and thermal insulation. It replaces wood and metal materials to achieve lightweight and high strength.

Box Trucks

It is used as the box panel of refrigerated trucks and freezer trucks to ensure a stable low-temperature environment inside the vehicle.

RVs

It is used in wall panels, floors, roof panels and interior partitions in travel trailers, motorhomes, truck campers, caravans and more.

Marine

It can be used as partition material for interior construction above the decks of yachts and cruise ships. It reduces the overall weight of the hull and helps improve the vessel’s maneuverability and fuel efficiency.

Cold Rooms

It is used on the walls, ceilings and floors of cold storage to ensure temperature stability within the cooling space and effectively reduce energy loss.
